JOHN KENNETH GALBRAITH "A PROFILE OF AMERICAN COURAGE" HAS PASSED AWAY. A TRUE AMERICAN WHOSE DETERMINATION TO HELP THE "POOR" WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN

John Kenneth Galbraith, 97, Dies; Economist Held a Mirror to Society

Mr. Galbraith, an iconoclastic economist, teacher and diplomat,
was one of the most widely read authors in the history of economics.

Gen Y's opt-out vision ... is an article you can respect.
You may not agree with the author, but you surely must
respect her perceptions and philosophical thoughts on the
subject of Gen Y beliefs, and the reasons for such beliefs...
But could this point of view really only be a smokescreen
of this generation's inherited problem: the lack of job
security? There are few 30 year jobs available anymore
(much less creative and rewarding jobs), so there's good
cause for Gen Y's negative thoughts, wanting less, lower
expectations, and the self-employment binge expressed
in the article. Might those Gen Y ramblings only be coping
mechanisms like rationalization, projection and compensation,
et cetera? Hence, those Gen Y attitudes and the like, are
merely a reflection of their insecurity and is only an adapting
mechanism to deal with their plight, nothing more... Just
an opinion. Opinions are like arses, everyone has one. Take
it as a grain of salt, nothing more. Just one man's opinion.
But nevertheless, it's a brilliant article and well-worth your
time. Enjoy...!

DOES THE WORLD AND, LIFE IN GENERAL, MAKE YOU DEPRESSED? YOU'RE NOT THE "LONE RANGER" IN THAT REGARD...! THERE'S HELP ON THE WAY:A NAT'L REFERENDUM

Copyright @ 2006 by F. Scott Sinclair. All Rights Reserved.

Comment: If you want to change things for the better,
and return America to its rightful owners--the American
People--then you'd better get behind former senator
Mike Gravel of Alaska. He's proposing a "national referendum"
to give the People a voice in American politics and the
direction the country is heading. And I believe that
a "national initiative" amendment should be coupled
with that constitutional amendment in order that a
fourth branch of government be established. The Peoples
Branch of government which overseers the original
three branches of government. An invisible sledgehammer
(the initiative process) that will coerce Congress and the
president and the judiciary into performing their jobs
in accordance with: The Will of the People. If people get
behind, Mr. Mike Gravel, there's nothing that can't be
changed. And finally, the midterm elections are so
important in terms of halting and altering the direction (course)
that America is heading on, due South: the toilet. So,
please vote your conscience...be that as it may be. But vote,
that's the important thing. Make a difference, rightly or
wrongly, in making the system work and making it
accountable to us: The People. Nuff said. Take care.

And no doubt, you and I have crossed
each others path at one time or another,
unknowningly over the years. In a grocery store,
bait shop, or just walking along the beach. Perhaps
we merely crossed paths as my father and mother
drove us to and from the cottages on Camano Island.
I've stayed many weekends at a resort
that caters to weekend folks who enjoy living in
small cabins next to (literally) the shores of
Puget Sound throughout the years. You are blessed
to be able to live on Camano Island. A paradise unto
itself... Thank you neighbor for your honest and
forthright feelings about the State of the Union.
Best wishes to you, sir.

Sincerely,

Novelist F. Scott Sinclair

QUOTE:

What Happened To My Country?

By Steve Osborn

My God! What has happened to my nation?
My nation that no longer pays more than lip service
to its Constitution and Bill of Rights, which have been
a beacon to the world for over two centuries. My
nation that unilaterally discards treaties that were
the hope of a world of peace, guided by law and
diplomacy. My nation that will wage a war of
aggression against a far off nation that was no
threat to it, but that has lots of oil. My nation
that gives all of its wealth to the rich and is
satisfied to leave its citizens to starve, homeless,
unemployed and sickly.

AN EXCELLENT ARTICLE AND A MAGNIFICENT RESPONSE (POST) TO THAT ARTICLE. A REAL EYE-OPENER, & BE SURE TO BRACE YOURSELF: IT'S AN EXPLOSIVE POST...!

QUOTE:

The Only Hope For the World

By Doug Soderstrom, Ph.D.

The world has gotten itself into a real jam.
I mean a humdinger of a jam! As in John Paul
Sartre's existential drama, No Exit, which so
nicely portrays the inescapability of self-chosen
evil, the inevitability of a self-made Hell, there
seems to be no way out for the world; no way
for the inhabitants of planet Earth to escape
what appears to be the inevitability of a hell
of its own making... World War III!

Comment: This is a fantastic post (comment) that followed
the above article. It's perhaps one of the most intelligent
and well thought out comments I've had the pleasure of
reading. Truly a work of art. This comment (post) deserves
a much greater billing to equate with its worth, merit and
content. I wish all comments were this fine and insightful;
and assuredly, I read more of them.

Wow - I had no idea this was a New Age site.
I thought it was a political site. That is kind of
troubling to even cynical old me: none of you
seem to have a grasp of the actual situation. You're
all talking as if the common man caused, or had a
major hand in these recent mega-problems. They
didn't, and that is not a good, nor particularly valid,
way to look at it. About the only thing the vast
majority of the public did to cause this global
insanity was to inadvertantly be born into this
extremely corrupt period of late capitalist decadence,
where they have little choice but to make the best
of it.All of this talk of changing consciousness or of
Man's inherent violence are false suppositions on
y'all's part. There's not that much wrong with most
people's conciousness and most people are good people,
so one can't take New Ager's claims to the contrary
seriously - 'incorrect' conciousness is not the problem.
Nobody I know wants war and corruption and
fearmongering. So why do y'all believe they do?
There's little evidence for what you're saying.
Look around you in society. Are most people killing
each other and nerve-gassing each other? NO THEY
ARE NOT. THEY ARE NOT EVEN CONSIDERING
IT AND NEVER DO - THE VAST MAJORITY JUST
WANT TO GET BY AND HAVE A GOOD SITUATION
FOR THEMSELVES AND SOME NICE FRIENDS
AND NEIGHBORS TO HANG WITH, AND FOOD
ON THE TABLE.... (To see the remainder of the
